A collaboration with local Indigenous artist - Cody.
Hi, my name is Cody - Wiradjuri.
I have been exploring my connection to culture and Country through contemporary Aboriginal art. Like many others, I’ve faced challenges with my cultural identity and sexuality, and my hope is that my art encourages people to embrace love, acceptance, and equal respect for all.
This artwork shares the story of my father and I during my coming out and his fraternal love outweighing his beliefs.
Bunjil, the wedge-tailed eagle, is the creator — just as my father was my creator. The rainbow circles represent Binbeal, the god of rainbows and son of Bunjil, while the central yellow circle symbolises the sun — a play on words, as this story is about father and son.
